The Dogs swing as hard as any of the current crop of bands out there. Face it swing is hot and The Dogs are ready to set it on fire. With an array of originals and cover tunes The Dogs go to work right off the bat with " Lock You Up" followed by the catchy "Rockin At The Doghouse." With horns blasting away and lead singer Ed Duato Scheers snappy vocals this is one band that will keep you on your feet all night.
The Dogs also show that they do more than swing just listen to the soulful vocals on the ballad "Somethings Wrong." A little daring for a band that is considered swing , but with all the talented musicians in this big band it goes off without a hitch.
Songs such as "Wrong Lake To Catch a Fish," Forget About It," and "Who Got Your Mama?" will satisfy any listener or for that fact the swing dance crowd. With lyrics chock full of double entendres and nuance of the greatest r & b The Dogs are sure to satisfy. "Oh Babe" a Louis Prima song is given the Dog treatment and the results are great.
You could go over this disc and I dont know if could find a weak spot. Of course if you dont like r & b/swing then I suppose you might find one. The muscianship on this disc is right on target at all times and the writing is just fine.
The Love Dogs are chewin out their piece of the swing revival although they probably dont want to think of it that way. Along with the other bands out there such as The Cherry Poppin Daddies, The Dirty Boogie, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, and of course The Brain Setzer Orchestra, who incidentally has a Top 20 disc just to show how hot swing is right now, The Love Dogs might just keep this swing thing goin. So if swings your thing this one is a must!
